I was very surprised to see that in the past few years the group has looked to children to fulfill their work. I was amazed at how open the man they interviewed (Hanif) was about his status with Al-Qaeda. I don't understand why he believes these things he does and i don't understand why he believes it is good to die a "martyr" just beause people around him have said that's what he is supposed to do.
I am not shocked about the choices that the Al-Qaeda and Taliban have made. Even if it seems horrible to strap a bomb up to yourself and die for your religion. It is perfectly normal and respectful for the terrorist groups. It would also not shock me that the use of children would be put into play. As history recalls, many past wars in which one side was being beat choose to throw children into the mix. Once again, an American would look down on the choice while the terrorist would take pride in the decision. It is horrible what the terrorist are doing with children and young adults. But the United States is not able to do much about the situation and terrorist do not have a problem with it.
I was not suprised on how young Al-Qeada was recruiting for there army. They think that killing innocent people for there religion is good and want everyone to do it. Strapping a bomb to yourself and blowing up a building is the wrong thing to do but all mean, Al-Qeada thinks its right. They also think its okay to have kids in there army and are proud of it. I dont see where they found the posotive in blowing up buldings and killing innocent people. They also are taking away kids lives by putting them in the army so young and taking away their childhood.
Im not surprised on how young Al-Qeada is recuriting there army because we are kinda doing it too. For them they think that if they commit susicde then there would be 54 virgins waiting for them in the Promise Land. in the U.S. we are kinda like them because we are goign to different schools asking people to think about joinging so we are kinda like them. Al Qeada is a group wehre they dont care who gets killed they just want more people to join.
I was not surprised how early the taliban and al-queda have started recruited because you can never expect what they are going to do. With their religion they believe killing innocent peiole is what their god would want them to do. Being a mrtryr is bad because in the Bible it says taking your own life will prett much send you to hell.
Aftering reading the article on Al Qaeda i really wasnt surprised on how young they want their new men to be. Just like other rebels around the world they want young recruits because younger people and even kids are easier to manipulate. At a young age you cant tell right from young so you just do what you are told even if that means shoting and killing people. However i can't even imagine my little brother who is 12 getting a gun and joining a rebel group. This part is just shocking and disturbing. It was a good article and more people need to read it so that we can find a way to stop the Al Qaeda and stop young people getting sucked into an army.
I was not surprised by the article at all. The kids seem to be influenced and brain washed by the leaders. They seem to not know right from wrong. I guess recruiting them at a young age makes it easier to brain wash them. I did not think they had kids as young as 12 with them though. That is just a waste of a life. I liked reading the article because it gives you information from a real life Al Queda soldier.
I was not suprised by this article because I knew that young kids were willing to become part of the Al Queda at such an early age. The leaders of these terrorist groups seem to bribe the kids and tell them to join their group and fight for what is right. We need to learn from this article and we need to stop this from happening in the Middle East.
As I was reading this, I was shocked at the young age of this boy. Only 16 and he was completely ready to fight. He talked so maturely as if he were a grown man. However, I couldn't believe that he was okay with being a suicide bomber. He wanted to die and be a martyr for his group and encouraged others to do so as well. I was especially surprised at the young age of the boys being trained to be suicide bombers. The one boy was even ordered to go home, but the order was defied and ended up being killed. I think that we need to somehow learn how to stop these things from happening. So many people are unaware of these horrible events. If we are keeping troops in Iraq, Iran, and Afghanistan, this is what they should be focused on changing.
I was not surprised by how Al Qaeda recruiters get people to join because of other historical armies that have recruited children(for example, the Hitler Youth). But I thought it was terrible how these children are ruining their lives even though they think that they are doing good. They are witnessing and playing a role in killing inocent people, while they think they are securing their place in paradise. I was shocked to see how happy Hanif was to meet the man who killed 7 CIA operatives. I agree what we are doing in Afghanistan and Irag because we are freeing people from people like Al Qaeda and the Taliban.
I think its terrible how they brainwash the youth into thinking that killing people will secure them a place in paradise. It doesn't suprise me that they go for the younger crowd because they are more easily influenced then someone who has livedlonger and has a set of morals and understanding of wrong and right.
I was not suprised by the fact that Al Queda recruited people so young. The point being that they are able to brain wash them at such an early age so that they remain loyal to Al Queda. Also, because they are so young they dont understand what they are doing as an adult would in that situation.
From reading the article I was not surprised to see in the article how young Al-Quedia recruits are put into the field. Like what many others have said in their blogs, Al-Quedia target their youth because they are the easiest to manipulate and are merely used to kill innocent people along with killing themselves because of the leaders that have brainwashed them. If you look back on the history of the middle east their radical Ideas have been basically the same for 1000 years and in turn affects the morals of the people. Strapping a bomb to kill infidells and being viewed as a martyr for it is not viewed as what it is in the united states because of the radicalism that the members of faction groups like Al-Quedia have been filled with.
While this article was shocking, it was very interesting. What shocked me the most was the youth in the organization. I don't understand how a 12 year old can want to blow himself up or anyone for that matter. Al queda really does hate Americans and other countries. While they may have reasons it seems like they will never let them go. It's a circle of hate. These terrorist are absolutely dedicated to what they do.
Reading this makes me put my life in perspective. That boy was only 16 and he was already to go fight. These kids are being brainwashed by Al Queda and its an ongoing problem for the US; On the flipside, its an ongoing solution for them. They totally wipe away these kids' common sense. They think what is right is completely wrong, and what is right, never occurs to them that it is right.
I could not believe the reaction to the people in the Al-Queda. It is perfectly normal to them to have little children used for their terrorist attacks. In our society, people think it is crazy to commit suicide. However with the teachings of the Al-Queda, dying for a cause is an honorable way to die. The stuff that is portrayed in Hollywood is actually true in some manners. The worst part is that their are so few of them, the US cannot do anything about it.
